A wine that tells about Sicily, its history and its myths. The nectar of Gods produced by the wine company Patria, which originated from a territory created by the lava of the Mojo volcano, which is now extinct and Mount Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe. This wine collects flavours, colours and the many nuances of the island. Passions lit by the lava red like in the “Allegradicuore Doc” or golden memories contained in “Palici”, that recalls the ancestral soul of Sicily. A spumante is one of the main products of the company, whose name recalls the legend of the twins who were born twice, from Talìa goddess and from the earth.
The Patria wines are created in Solicchiata, a fraction of Castiglione di Sicilia, City of Wine. A place plunged into vivid nature in the middle of the Alcantara park, Mount Etna and the Nebrodi mountains. A place where the myth of the Magna Greece lives on through its landscapes and the products of its territory.
Flagship of the company is the Bottaia made of oak from Slavonia of Torrepalino, a construction that was once used to indicate the road between the port of Riposto and Milazzo. The Bottaia, which has been entirely reconstructed, can contain 8,500 litres of wine.
The relationship with the territory is at the centre of the company’s activity, which points on the Doc Etna and the typical geographic origin of Sicily. Apart from the Spumante “Pàlici”, other top-quality wines are the Novello Igt, Murgentino and Basalto. Also monovarieties are produced such as Sirah, Chardonnay, Merlot and Nero D’Avola. These wines are distributed both on the national territory but also in foreign countries, with particular attention to the Asiatic market.
The places where the Patria cellars are located are not only dedicated to the production of wine, but they also host musical events, theatre shows, ballet and fashion shows.
The volcano cellar, a witness of time, contains a small treasure of art, taste and culture.
