An executive of the sociology department of the health office of the province of Catania was accused by the Guardia di Finanza because she presented false certificates to justify her absences from work. She is accused of fraud and falsification.

The investigation started thanks to the collaboration between the Guardia di Finanza of Catania and the local health office. The executive modified her medical certificates adding days to her sick leave, she also altered medical certificates handed over by public structures after day-hospitals or general visits. In other cases the medical certificates were completely false. The Guardia di Finanza discovered in the woman’s computer the files with the medical documents used to justify her absences, which were not recognized as authentic by the local healthcare structures. Some of these, among which the Policlinic of Rome, denied that the woman had been hospitalized.
