Around 100 carabinieri of the province of Cuneo arrested 22 people (2 Italians and 20 foreigners, mainly from Morocco), accused of fraud against the State and favouring illegal immigration. The provinces interested are Cuneo, Asti, Savona and Syracuse. The investigation, coordinated by the prosecutor’s office of Mondovì lasted six months during which the carabinieri discovered the illegal activities of two businessmen (one Italian and the other one from Morocco), and many other people from Morocco, who managed to break the law favouring illegal immigration.
They managed to create a series of documents which proved false job positions with local companies and accommodation, “selling” residence permits for two-three thousand Euros. Once obtained the documents, the foreigners just disappeared on the national territory. Some of the people under investigation also wanted to take advantage of the unemployment allowance, even if they were not entitled, through the regularization of home helpers. The carabinieri analyzed more than one hundred cases and they are now examining all the documents seized.
