Ora et labora and e-mail. The Benedictine rule in the Internet age could sound more or less like this since the word of God, with the Pope’s authorization, is spreading on the web. If the space for virtual communication is starting a “new history” for its capacity to create new relations, the priests that interact do not just simply occupy a space, but they have to be the animators of the communities.
This is what Benedict XVI said in the message for the World Day for Communications, that will be celebrated next 16th of May. So the priests are required to be “present in the digital world following the message of the Gospel, to be the animators of the communities and announce the Gospel using, next to traditional means, also new media like photos, video, animation, blogs, we sites, which represent new ways to dialogue and useful means for catechism.
