Discussions exploded after the report of Canale 5, mother channel of Mediaset, that dealt with the private life of judge Raimondo Mesiano, who condemned Fininvest to pay 750 million Euros to Carlo De Benedetti’s Cir for the Mondadori case.

“We want the privacy watchdog, and all the people and institutions who are responsible for the fact, to stop this shameful situation”. The Italian association of magistrates criticized the “very serious campaign

of denigration and aggression against the judge carried out by the newspapers and televisions of the Fininvest group and the Berlusconi family”.

In the meantime, the privacy watchdog is evaluating the position of the magistrates’ association also in order to open an investigation. The president and the secretary of the magistrates’ trade union, Luca Palmara and Giuseppe Cascini, said they are “stunned and indignant”, and they protested about the case. The headquarters of the magistrates’ association reconstructed the fact: “Yesterday ‘Mattino 5’, an entertainment programme on Canale 5, followed judge Mesiano – they explain – filming his private life, which was absolutely normal, but the journalists of Canale 5 defined it as ‘extravagant’.

The newspaper ‘Il Giornale’ published the story of an anonymous lawyer who, three years ago, heard the judge speaking after the election in 2006”. “A story, they added, which cannot be proven, and from which you cannot obtain any elements of incorrect behaviour on behalf of the magistrate during his job”.
