“The discussions of the left-wing parties about Tremonti’s statements on permanent jobs confirm once against their bad faith. I fully agree with the Economy Minister.

We think, as the measures for occupation that we have brought ahead have already demonstrated, permanent jobs a real value.

Just like self-employed people”. This is what Berlusconi said just after the leader of the Industrial Association Emma Marcegaglia, according to whom “the culture of a permanent job is a return to the past which is not possible and which has created, in Italy, many problems, increasing unemployment, illegal work, and absenteeism in the public administration”.

Tremonti talked again about permanent jobs from Luxemburg. He then continued in a conference in Milan: “I just said that there is a new model, that led to unfixed jobs. That’s all. I just said that I prefer permanent jobs, I thought everyone took it for granted, it’s as if somebody asked me if I prefer hot or cold weather, I prefer hot”. After all, he added, “I have always written it, I have always said it ever since I’m a minister, and with the same tone”. The Minister also said that he is not “one of those fanatic Darwinians who consider unfixed positions and mobility as a value. I think stability is a better value”, because “in our society a permanent job guarantee the stability of human relationships in families and with children”.
